Although the platform is new to the USA; Brainfood Academy is not a new undertaking. The dream was started six years prior in the “Land Down Under”! That’s right, Australia! An amazing tutoring program developed and was put into place in Sidney. Australian parents look to enhance their children’s abilities using tutors. Not necessarily catch them up, as we do in this country. This tutoring program which has been running for the past four years, is now #1! Furthermore, they have become so popular, that the program is having to turn students away. Brainfood Academy “Downunder” has been so widely acclaimed that they take students from New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, India, and of course Australia!
The founders conceptualized Brainfood’s expansion to the United States from the beginning. Six mind-blowing years later, Brainfood Academy and Tutoring program is here to entice our young learners. While allowing them to enjoy learning again without the fears and frustrations that have indoctrinated our schools. Brainfood Academy will return the educational environment back to the parents. Teachers are creating our future scientists, mathematicians, and Nobel Prize winners. Why are they “Lowman on the Totem Pole” when it comes to their salary? Our incredible contributors to this society internationally must acquire hour upon hour of additional education to just maintain their certification. And then additionally spending more time just planning and preparing to teach relevant topics to our young people. Their education compares to lawyers and even doctors! So why is their pay less than most manual labor jobs around the world? Teachers hold the minds of our most cherished individuals in their hands.
I found this personally to be true. I love teaching and was so proud of my Bachelor of Science Degree! Where I now had the background to share with Hearing, Deaf, and Hard-of-Hearing students the wonderful world of learning! Though exploring the world around us. When I first started out in my career, it did not matter what I made as a teacher because my husband was a computer analyst and made enough money that we used my salary as “play money”! In fact my first year of teaching with my $8400.00 for the year, we bought “Puddle Jumper”! Our ski boat that we used every chance we could get!
Change is a Normal Thing
We all know life happens! So when my children were 4 and 6, the divorce happened! And you can imagine as a single mom that salary would not cut it! My second job gave us the ability to just make ends meet. And don’t forget about childcare costs; that ate up half, if not more of my salary. This is truly a sad scenario that so many teachers have experienced. Having to forgo teaching because of a need to make a decent living for the children in the family. It became too exhausting for me to teach during the day and then go to my second job all afternoon and evening. I was giving my children a good life, but one where it did not include me being present.
Teachers should have the ability to get paid what they are worth! As well as work in a non-disruptive environment where they can actually teach and support true education. Education without political agendas, violent disruptions, and wasted time shuffling students around a brick-and-mortar structure!
